In which fictional world/universe/land/city would you most like to live?
Submitted by glenn is the new chuck.
DC Comics universe. No question about it. I would live in Metropolis, work at the Daily Planet. Just so I could hang out with Clark, Lois and Jimmy and Perry. Dude that would be sweet. Plus also, if anyone from Smallville is reading this blog. I would love the opportunity to have a small part in the show. Maybe Freak of the Week, but anything would totally rock!

Well, it's officially been more than a week since Christmas, and silly me I didn't even tell anyone about it on Vox. Man, I'm not living up to the Voxionary name this week. But granted it was the holidays, so I do have a bit of a good excuse right?
Well at any rate, the Snowball Family Christmas went off with a bang. It started with my birthday obviously and it didn't even stop. The biggest enjoyment I had was being able to spend Christmas Eve with my close friends and family. Our family had a "Christmas Eve Open House" Where we invited people over and they can come and go as they please. Normally our family tradition was to have Christmas Eve dinner, which always consisted of Meatball Subs. Trust me you have never really had a Christmas dinner without gorging yourself on Meatball Subs. We only really eat them one time as a family throughout the year and it is usually Christmas Eve. I don't know why that is, but trust me they are good, and great on the wallet too. We also usually after dinner would grab a whole bunch of snacks such as Chips, Cheese, Cabassa, Candy Cane Ice Cream, etc, and we would watch either "It's a Wonderfull Life" or "A Christmas Story(which happens to be my favorite Christmas movie, because I seriously look and feel like I'm Ralphie Parker)"
Now that is normally our family tradition, but for the past two years the Open House replaced that.
Which brings up a good story. Last year when we first tried this Open House concept, I had my friend Matt over and he really wanted to play Halo on my XBox in my room. Well for those of you who haven't been to my house, I literally live in the basement of the house. I have a Rec-Room(which is where the big Home Entertainment system is hehe) and I have a bathroom, and a laundry room. So I basically have a basement apartment except no kitchen, and no shower in the bathroom.
So anyway, the night wears on, and it starts to get late. The majority of the guests have left except for my brother's girlfriend and Matt. I go upstairs to the Living Room while Matt is still playing Halo. I'm sitting upstairs talking to my family for nor more than half an hour and all of a sudden the conversation stops for a second, and all you hear coming from the downstairs is this loud, "YESS!" My Dad then asks who that was, and I said it was Matt. My family laughed so hard because they forgot that Matt was still down there and didn't even realize it!!!
If that doesn't tickle your funny bone, well I guess you had to be there. It was funny okay!
Anyway, moving on with my Christmas recap....
So after everyone had gone, and all the guests were accounted for and left. We all went to bed and woke up around 9:30ish on Christmas morning. It was really weird for our family to be up at that time because we are up so early Christmas morning that it is usually still dark outside. This time, bright and sunny. "Wow, so that's what the sun is like in the morning," I thought.
So, after all the crinkling of wrapping paper and the obligatory, "How did you know's," "I love it's," and "You got what I wanted's," was said and done, Christmas was done. But now with the added bonus items we can now store in our rooms and play with for a long time.
My main gifts this year was:
- 30 GB Black Video iPod - Yes I finally replaced my now dead 3G iPod. Boo freakin ya! However, I can still use my old iPod as a 10GB Hard Drive. That is totally worth it.
-
Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 (Upset that it is only half the season, but hey that's the Distributor's fault not my parents)
- A 12" Walking Robosapien
- A Superman Calender
- A Superman remote control Monster Truck
- Plus many more small little things that are too many to mention.
On a side note though, the gifts that my friends got me I definitely cannot go without mentioning.
- From Brian =
Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut - This has to be my now all time favourite movie. Plus one of the best gifts I have received this year
- From Shane -
Lewis Black's book called Nothing Sacred, and a book on how to be a Superhero(Which both Brian and I got because we are huge Superhero fans)
So all in all Christmas and a fun New Years Eve with my friends really put a good ending period to a great year. I will never forget 2006. That will be the year I will look back on and after telling my Life Story, I can conclude by saying "...and that's when it all started." I love those kinds of years.
Well, I hope you all had a good Christmas and a great New Years, and now let's move forward into 2007.
Toodles!

Hello everyone!
It's about time I post another video blog after like so many months. So what I decided to do is since it is Halloween, I would do a video blog about a recent Halloween party I went to. Anyway, sorry for the lack of witt that usually follows any kind of post I have, however it is late at night and I need me so freakin' sleep.
Anyway, here you go. You can watch the movie on the side, or download the movie here. Either way everyone wins. By the way I wasn't so happy with the way the editing was done. I tried to do it within a few hours to hit the Halloween day so I apologize if the editing isn't quite as good.
Anyway, enjoy!

***SPOILER ALERT****
***If you have not seen this movie do not read this post.****
Like a true Superman fan, I was ready. I had my Superman t-shirt and my Superman ring on. I had tickets for the IMAX theatre in Mississauga for Canada Day, and I was ready for a great movie. Early reviews said it was good, and I was, if you pardon the pun, Super-excited.
Unfortunately that excitement did not match the experience I had watching Superman Returns.
I'm not saying I thought it was terrible. I thought it was freakin' fantastic, but after following this movie for over 2 years, and knowing certain things about this movie that many other people didn't, I didn't feel like they added more to what I thought was an excellent movie. It left me wanting more.
First off though lets disect the characters. Brandon Routh, who looks uncanny as a Christopher Reeves clone, did an excellent job of bringing Clark Kent/Superman to life. Even when deliviring lines from the original 1978 movie, it was as if Routh was channeling Reeves to play this part. Unfortunately due he did not have a lot of lines to say. He was very silent throughout the movie, even as Clark Kent. Which if you watched the original religiously, you would see that Kent had more lines than Superman. Either way though I still think Routh gave a good performance and would like to see him develop this role further.
Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, was good, but not great. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give her a "meh". She played more as a lawyer than a newspaper reporter, and her performance, like Routh, was trying to channel Margot Kidder for the part, which like I said before, I would like to see her develop the role more.
Lastly Lex Luthor himself, Kevin Spacey. His was actually the performance I liked the most. Yes, he is no Gene Hackman, but Hackman to me was more of a Used Car Salesman, than a multi-billionaire businessman. Which Spacey played well, with a bit of Hackman in him. One thing I did notice in the role that he played was that he did the genius part justice. You ever notice when villians in movies are faced with a situation that could potentially have problems, they don't follow their gut instinct and want to see it play out? Or basically the old addage when you see someone open a door in horror movies and you're yelling at the screen to not open the door because there is a monster behind it? Well this was played well in Superman. In one situation when Lois and her son Jason were kidnapped by Luthor and we find out that Jason has some special powers of his own. When Lex finds this out, his immediate reaction is to run as fast as he can. Which he does. Where normally in Moviedom, Lex would've stayed to see if he could exploit those powers. Spacey did this throughout the movie and it finally gave some smarts to the role. He saw things that were coming and knew how to handle them. He is not the one to open the door in a horror movie. He would've taken a shot gun and shot at the door then opened it. Anyway Spacey gave a good performance, and made me feel better about him as Luthor after he was announced to play the role.
Now in regards to the movie as a whole, the special effects were awesome! Plane sequence, freakin' fantastic. The beat-up of Supes, heart wrenching. The bullet in the eye effect, so kick ass. Story, little bit plain, but good stepping stone to sequals. Music, John Williams is a genius, and he didn't even score this movie! Jor-El, great even without Marlon Brando providing new lines. Scenery, definately deco in style and loved each bit of it.
All in all it is a great movie. One suggestion that I would like to make though is, don't see it in the IMAX theatre. The extra 3D sequences in the movie were good, but kind of took you out of the movie when you had to put on and take off the 3D glasses. And, the movie didn't even fill the whole screen. There wa s a letterbox throughout the entire movie and it would've been better if it took advantage of the 6 story real estate.
Anyway, without those faults I mentioned above, any true Superman fan would still love this movie, and I would highly recommend it. I'm definately going to see it again at a regular theatre so I can get the full on effect, without the 3D distractions, so that should tell you something.
Anyway, like Superman I'm going to fly away to my Fortress of Solitude, and I will emerge again tomorrow.
A friend,
